Opening speech by Iván Szántó at the 1st International Conference on Museums in Iran
Iván Szántó, Head of the Department of Iranian Studies, being the only foreign guest of the 1st International Iranian Conference of Museums, gave an opening speech in Persian language at the University of Ardabil, Iran, on 'Islamic Art in the Museums of Central Europe at the era of the Cold War' . The conference focused on the formation, present state and the tasks of museums in Iran, and reveiwed the latest challenges this institutions have to face with, such as the role of artificial intelligence. Particular emphasis was placed on the evolving system of university museum collections. The the develpoment of which should be either independent, university-managed or determined in cooperaton was the subject of important discussions.
